MOBILE CLIENT: technology

The auto-installing BOoOM Mobile Client has many benefits over traditional WAP sites.

  • User Interface is friendlier: A menu driven system that shows concise operations and functions upfront, rather than WAP where information and links are spread throughout the page, therefore making it harder for users to navigate and retrieve information in a timely fashion.
  • Low operational cost to the user: BOoOM’s Mobile Client has the ability to use highly compressible information architecture between the application and the server thus lowering the cost per information ratio as compared to WAP architecture.
  • Multi-Threading: BOoOM’s Mobile Client allows the user to run multiple features at once, such as interacting with the server. This means getting the latest information in the background while viewing another type of feature in the foreground. Multi-Threading is not supported on WAP.
  • Push Notification: The BOoOM Mobile Client is always connected to the server, known as Stateful Architecture, therefore enabling bi-direction of information. The server can send information to the client whenever it needs to do so, and coupled with Multi-threading support, the user gets notified of changes to the application at any point in time without the need of any user intervention.
  • Error Handling: If the network connection drops when a WAP application transmits a request to the server, the user will see an unfriendly error messages. The message is generated by the WAP browser, you have no control over it. With the BOoOM Mobile Client, the application is able to catch these errors and display a helpful message. The application may even attempt to retransmit the request.
  • Reduced Wireless Bandwidth: BOoOM’s Mobile Client application can process data locally, thereby reducing network traffic. Not only does this conserve precious wireless bandwidth and reduce latency, it reduces the likelihood that crucial information will be intercepted or interrupted. A denial-of-service attack is a common example of WAP application interruption.
